The Chaco Canyon Organic Cafe is looking to fill a brand new, unique position here at our wonderful Greenwood Commissary Kitchen. We produce 100% vegan, high integrity, nutrient dense, organic food for our 3 great locations.
Our Executive Chef, Heather, who has been with us for over 5 years is transitioning to a different position and we are looking for someone to round out the management team. Heather would like to concentrate on supervising individual shifts and pass on the administrative parts of her job to a new, well-organized, passionate and experienced individual - maybe you?
Here are the main duties that we are looking to have you take on:
Scheduling and emergency coverage
Hiring, training, reviewing, firing
Catering sales and outreach
Maintaining production and ordering sheets
Ordering, receiving, and maintaining inventory
Costing and financial analysis
Communication between locations
Van/ equipment maintenance
Organizing/ re-vamping menu options when appropriate
Creating/ maintaining organizational systems
Here are the personal aspects and traits that we are looking for in a candidate:
Clear, positive, and inspiring communication
Kind, firm and energetic
Ability to take direction and not have all the answers
Passionate about our mission
Hugely positive and able to effectively coach others in creating amazing food and attitudes
Good listener and mentor
This is a unique senior position that we are looking to fill in the coming weeks. We understand that there is a LOT to be learned and taught before you are able to fully take on this job, and are committed to 6-8 solid weeks of training. While you may be able to learn scheduling in a couple days, it will take time to be able to learn how to work all kitchen positions as well. Knowing all kitchen positions (prep, baking, supervising) will give you the context you need to be able to supervise, hire, train, and review people.
Your weekly schedule will be 5 days, including 1 weekend day - Tuesday - Saturday is preferred but negotiable.
Once you are trained, you would be at the same level as Heather, though you would take on the responsibilities of the position as described. You will be reviewed every 6 months (in addition to a 6-week check in) by Chris, the owner.
Our goal at Chaco Canyon Organic Cafe is to continually seek to set the standard on what it means to be a Sustainable Cafe. We make all business decisions with the goal of having people, the planet and profitability in balance. We never compromise on our mission, and our ultimate goal of having zero impact on the planet. We wear our hearts on our sleeves and demonstrate this in the way we welcome and take care of customers and employees, donate to local and national causes that share our values, source our ingredients, and prepare every dish. We give people (and ourselves) goosebumps with what we show is possible with a cafe, and what a difference one place can make for the world and our community. We currently have three locations, with interest in growing to have a few other locations around Seattle in the future. The bigger we grow, the more we want to adhere to our values, which are: Having equal respect for our planet, our community, and our employees, and continually refining our business practices to reflect this respect, and creating a welcoming space for and bringing unique products and services to a diverse community
