YOUR OPPORTUNITY
As the Accounting Manager, you will be accountable for all essential accounting functions of the organization, including partnering with the Senior Director of Finance to maintain sound financial practices to ensure sustainable fiscal health and support the organization's goals and objectives.

You produce high-quality work with an exceptional level of detail, while effectively and efficiently managing your time and resources. You are eager to identify and propose improvements to existing policies and procedures. This position reports directly to the Senior Director of Finance and plays a fundamental role in The Humane League's financial management.
This is a full-time, remote position. This position requires occasional domestic travel, equivalent to approximately 2-3 trips per year. We are only able to consider applicants who reside in the United States and possess United States work authorization.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepare and process all daily, weekly, and monthly general ledger transactions including Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, in addition to performing a variety of accounting tasks to assist the Senior Director of Finance
Manage general day-to-day accounting
Manage the timely preparation and maintenance of all accounting records via QuickBooks
Records data from multiple internal and external sources (vendor bills, donor contributions, payroll servicer, etc.) into the financial database for use in financial reporting, grant reporting, etc.
Support the daily, monthly, quarterly and annual accounting functions
Review all invoices for appropriate documentation and approval prior to payment
Process electronic funds transfers (EFTs) and wire requests
Reconcile and process monthly credit card statements and payments
Reconcile vendor statements; research and correct discrepancies
Reply to all vendor inquiries
Assist with month-end close
Maintain files and documentation thoroughly and accurately, in accordance with company policy and accepted accounting practices
Assist with annual Form 1099 reporting and associated record-keeping requirements
Assist with preparation of annual audit and tax reconciliation schedules
Prepare routine financial reports for gift and grant funds as needed
Act as backup for the Senior Director of Finance
Assist the Senior Director of Finance and Vice President of Operations in refining existing processes as well as developing new processes
Other duties as assigned
REQUIRED SKILLS
Minimum Bachelor degree in accounting, business administration or related field or equivalent amount of relevant training and/or experience
Skill in the operation of computers with proficiency in Google Suite, Excel and Adobe Pro
Proficiency in accounting / payroll systems
Excellent attention to detail and ability to organize, prioritize and meet deadlines
Solid interpersonal skills with the ability to work with other team members
Proper handling of confidential materials
Starting salary $57,640 or salary to commensurate with experience.
